Meet the Neighbors with Jeannie Zelasko

Meet the Neighbors with Jeannie Zelasko

Welcome to Meet the Neighbors!  Can you believe it’s the last Monday in August? :()  Goodness– where did the summer go?  Soon we will be enjoying all kinds of crisp autumn recipes– like pumpkin bread and homemade cranberry sauce.  But until then, we can love Mondays, no matter what month it is, because we get to meet another talented food blogger!  Today it’s my pleasure to introduce you to Jeannie Zelasko.  Jeannie runs a beautiful blog called Jeannie’s Tried and True Recipes.  She specializes in fun, family-friendly recipes that you can make on a busy weeknight without spending hours in prep.  Sounds like a good idea, to me!
You can find Jeannie on her blog, as well as on Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.  What are we waiting for?  Let’s meet her!

What is your name, and where are you located? (Hint: if you live in Hawaii, I am packing my bags as we speak 😉

My name is Jeannie Zelasko, and I live in East Aurora, NY.

Tell us a little bit about yourself– what is the name of your blog, and how did you get started?

My blog is Jeannie’s Tried and True Recipes. I have always loved photography. I spend many hours in the kitchen baking and cooking for my family, and I really enjoy it. So, I thought why not put all this together? I also wanted to start my food blog to keep all of our favorite recipes in one place.

What is your favorite food? And what is your least favorite food?

Hmmm…that is a tough one. So many to choose from! I would say I love chocolate, and one of my favorite dinners is spaghetti parm (it’s on my blog so you can try it and see if you feel the same!) My least favorite food is seafood. Just not a fan…

What advice would you give someone who is just starting to cook?

Just try different recipes and have fun with it. I remember hearing somewhere that if you can read, you can cook.

What keeps you going, every day? Who are your greatest cheerleaders/supporters?

My beautiful, loving family…my husband, son, and daughter.

Jeannie was kind enough to share with us her recipe for Dark Chocolate Raspberry Banana Bread.  This decadent treat is fancy enough for a special occasion or gift, but easy enough for everyday.  YUM!  Doesn’t it look amazing?  I, personally, can’t wait to try it!  Jeannie says:

“One of my favorite things to make is my Dark Chocolate Banana Raspberry Bread. I like to make banana muffins and breads for weekend breakfasts, sometimes. This one is my favorite because I love the addition of chocolate and raspberries. My recipes are mainly family friendly– I love anything from breakfasts to dinners and, of course, desserts! I do also like to add in some recipes on the healthy side because I feel it is important to have a little bit of everything mixed in.”

Jeannie, thank you so much for being here with us today on Cookies for England.  We really loved meeting you and seeing your beautiful photos!  I can’t wait to see what you cook up next! 🙂
