Meet the Neighbors with Marye Audet-White

Welcome to Meet the Neighbors!  Today we are so happy to introduce you to Marye Audet-White, a successful blogger, cookbook author, and busy wife and Mom. Marye blogs over at Restless Chipotle and specializes in beautiful food that is fun and easy to put together for a family meal.  She has a wonderful, beautiful family (just check out the photo!) and started her blog, originally, because she wanted to be able to teach her kids how to cook, even if they were away at school or somewhere else unable to watch Marye cook, in person.  I think it’s an awesome idea by an even more awesome lady, and I think you will agree!

You can find more of Marye’s delicious recipes on her blog, as well as on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, and Twitter.

What is your name, and where are you located? (Hint: if you live in Hawaii, I am packing my bags as we speak 😉

Marye Audet – White and I live in a historic home just south of Dallas, Texas.

Tell us a little bit about yourself– what is the name of your blog, and how did you get started?

I actually have two blogs. The oldest and largest is Restless Chipotle where I share recipes that I’ve adapted from my ever increasing antique cookbook collection. Southern comfort food for the win! The smaller, younger blog is Lowcarb-ology. I share low carb recipes there – mostly recipes that are quick, easy and only one or two servings. I just figured that most people on low carb were like me — they were eating low carb but their family was eating regular food. I actually began blogging in 2006 where I handled a blog called Baking Delights for a network. In 2010 when the network decided to go a different direction I began Restless Chipotle. It was a bit frustrating because that was before social media was a big part of blogging so I lost most of my readers and had to start from scratch. I HATE starting things over. I also have several cookbooks (some are ghostwritten) and I write a monthly article for Texas Living Magazine — so I stay pretty busy.

What is your favorite food? And what is your least favorite food?

Favorite food is chocolate, especially chocolate truffles. And Milky Ways… And Red M&Ms. And OMG those mini Cadbury Robins’ Eggs at Easter. My least favorite food is meat, really. I used to be vegetarian and I could easily go back to it. Sadly, my family would mutiny and since I have a very large family … well that could be bad.

What advice would you give someone who is just starting to cook?

I didn’t learn to cook until I was married. I experimented a lot and threw a lot of stuff out. My best advice is to just keep trying! There are videos, books, blogs, and television shows so it’s easier than ever to learn new techniques.

What keeps you going, every day? Who are your greatest cheerleaders/supporters?

My family! They tell me they are proud of me and they’ve supported me through some very difficult times in the past several years.

Marye was kind enough to share with us her recipe for Peanut Butter Pie with Pretzel Crust.  And let me tell you what . . . DROOOOOOOOOLLLL.  I make many recipes on my blog, but gorgeous, drool-worthy desserts are probably closest to my heart.  This recipe definitely fits the bill!  Marye says:

“I love this peanut butter pie. It’s got a salty pretzel crust, a layer of chocolate ganache, then a thick layer of rich peanut butter mousse. It’s one of my favorites.”

I think one look at this delicious recipe and you will agree– Marye’s blog is definitely one to check out and enjoy more fully!  I, for one, can’t wait to see more delicious recipes!  Thank you Marye for sharing your beautiful family and delicious recipes with us– we wish you all the best and can’t wait to see more of your beautiful work! 🙂
